چکیده
Abstract Date Presented 04/02/2022 This poster presents a case study of 56 year-old woman with weak wrist extension 2.5 years after subcortical ischemic stroke who participated in an extensor carpi radialis (ECR) motor evoked potential (MEP) operant conditioning training study. The participant increased maximum voluntary contraction the ECR and improved Box Block Test Fugl-Meyer upper extremity (UE) scores. could indicate that MEP is viable means improving UE function individuals poststroke. Electrical stimulation of wrist extensors in poststroke hemiplegia.
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE It has been suggested that cyclic neuromuscular electrical stimulation (ES) may enhance motor recovery after stroke. We have investigated the effects of ES of the wrist extensors on impairment of wrist function and on upper-limb disability in patients being rehabilitated after acute stroke. METHODS We recruited 60 hemiparetic patients (mean age, 68 years) 2 to 4 weeks a...
متن کاملOperant Conditioning: An Overview
Classical, or Pavlovian, conditioning is a process by which new emotional and glandular reactions develop in response to previously neutral stimuli in the environment. But classical conditioning doesn't explain how we develop new skills or behaviors instrumental in changing our external environments. That learning process involves what is typically referred to as instrumental, or operant, condi...

O Definition Primarily a feature of certain sentences, e.g., of many ascriptions of propositional attitudes. The truth of such ascriptions does not systematically depend on the truth or falsity of the proposition involved. Consider the following two belief-ascriptions: “Mary believes that 1 + 1 = 2” and “Mary believes that 2756 + 488 = 3244.” Even though both propositions (“1 + 1 = 2” and “2756...

Operant behavior is behavior "controlled" by its consequences. In practice, operant conditioning is the study of reversible behavior maintained by reinforcement schedules. We review empirical studies and theoretical approaches to two large classes of operant behavior: interval timing and choice. We discuss cognitive versus behavioral approaches to timing, the "gap" experiment and its implicatio...

Operant conditioning is characterized by the contingent reinforcement of a designated behavior. Previously, feeding behavior in Aplysia has been demonstrated to be modified by operant conditioning, and a neural pathway (esophageal nerve; E n.) that mediates some aspects of reinforcement has been identified. As a first step toward a cellular analysis of operant conditioning, we developed an in v...
